Okay, I am a little embarrassed to post the 1st picture. It is a picture of the left side of our house, but this gives you some idea of what the front of the house looked like before our landscaping (if you want to call it that). The 2nd picture is the right side (between the garage and the steps). We have a very big overhang off the house, so plants will not get much light or rain water, so we have to be creative.
What kind of plants/flower do you have that require low up keep?
(I have two little ones, and gardening is not my major.)

Hostas! Hostas are great in the shade and are very hardy.
